What are some tips to tame my curly hair?

Here's a few tips...

1. Wash: Don't wash hair too often because it will become dry. 2 or 3 times a week max. Comb it before washing to get rid of knots. Be gentle while scrubbing to avoid tangles.

2. Shampoo: Don't go against nature! If your hair is curly, use a shampoo for curly hair. Don't use one to make it "sleek and straight". Do use a conditioner for your type of hair too. For curly/wavy hair, try Redken's Fresh Curls.

3. Leave-in treatment: FHI Heat Hot Sauce and CHI Silk Infusion if you are heat styling. If you're not, use a regular curl activator or mousse with slight hold. Apply on damp hair.

4. Drying: don't comb your hair if it doesn't need to be (or use a wide-toothed comb). This will allow the natural curls to reform and avoid frizz. Air-dry until hair is half dry. Then blow dry using your fingers (scrunch if you have used a curl activator or use a diffuser on the low setting) until the hair is about 80% dry - keep the low setting so as not to destroy your natural curl patterns. Fully- or over-drying will make hair frizzy and dry - thus, always dry the lower layers of your hair before the top ones to avoid over-drying. Tie your hair up until fully dry. If you want to achieve a straight look, use a flat iron on the dry hair. Finish off with a little bit of serum on the length.

Good luck! :)

This is what I do...

While in the shower with your hair full of conditioner use a very wide tooth comb to detangle and comb your hair. When you get out of the shower do not brush or comb your hair. While your hair is damp put either gel or mousse with curl de-frizzing stuff in it evenly. Then let it air dry or use a blow-dryer with a diffuser. This works for my curly hair very well and leaves my hair with ringlets instead of frizz.
