Is it possible to have a fringe and not look silly with curly hair?
What is a good way of styling long, thick, curly hair?
A nice bun or a messy up-do would look nice. Straighten it once every couple of weeks for something fancy. I wouldn't recommend a fringe, that would look ridiculous. Wearing it naturally curly with a clip in the back or a nice headband would look great too.

Have a look at Katie Melua (sorry if I've spelt that wrong!) She has shoulder length curly hair, and appears to use styling tongs, mouse, wax to define her curls. You could try using rollers, by washing your hair, scrunching in a blob of curling mouse (try VO5) and sectioning equal amounts of hair to role. Then allow to dry naturally before fully drying with a hairdryer, then on the cold setting for a fixing blast; then take the rolers out and you should have lovely define curls :) They will fall into place gradually, and you can fix with hairspray and define with wax.

you could throw it into a clip, people with naturally curly hair always try and change it. half up styles usually look great.

Ah the problem of thick hair. I can relate. What I sometimes do is take two pony tail holders and pull the sides up as evenly as possible and have two minature pony tails on the top of my head just enough to get the hair out of my face, so I don't overheat, while letting the rest hang down to cover my ears for the winter weather. Hope this makes sense.
