- Read the book and visit the sites below about curly hair. I did and my once horrible curly hair is now virtually frizz-free ringlets. Now I get compliments on my hair all the time! Straighten your hair- be happy for a day, learn to manage your curly hair- be happy for life!
- To style your hair using the curly-girl method you will need gel and conditioner at the minimum. Some less useful, but still nice stuff would be a blowdryer, a diffuser (reduces frizz in curly/wavy hair when used with dryer), and a microfiber hair turban (to dry wet hair while sleeping or in the morning).
-The main philosophy of the curly-girl method is to not use shampoo. This may sound unhygenic but it has actually made my hair less oily and dandruffy. Most shampoos contain some of the same chemicals found in laundry detergent (aka sulfates). They dry out curly hair. Also you shouldn't brush your curly hair dry because it damages the hair and makes it poof.
- Massaging of the scalp with conditioner to remove dirt is all that is needed. It will clean everything but super clingy silicones. Then rinse and spread conditioner on the outside layer of hair and the hair at the nape of your neck. Gently comb tangles out with your fingers or a wide toothed comb and rinse with cold/cool water.
-Do not brush/comb your hair after this point because it wil disturb the curl pattern (make sure you already have a part). It is also important to use gel on sopping wet hair and scrunch the hair with your fingers. Use a towel or paper towels to gently scrunch some of the water out. Then let your hair air dry or wait ten minutes and then use a blowdryer with a diffuser. Do not touch the hair while it is air drying or it will frizz!
- Use a moisturizing conditioner, such as Desert Essence Organics Italian Red Grape Conditioner (found at health food/organic stores). The combo of products that I use daily is Garnier Fuctis Sleek and Shine Leave In Cream, then Aussie Tizz No Frizz Gel, and then Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel but there are more conditioners, gels, etc. on the websites.
- "Strictly Curls" is a book about curly updos and such. Curly hair looks amazing long with layers. I like to sweep hair back with 2 crisscrossed bobby pins after parting my hair to the side. I also like to wear my hair half up and leave out individual curls to frame my face.
- Your hair may seem worse at first, but it is just adjusting. This takes 2 to 4 weeks begin working. This is hard to do if you don't read the book, or at least visit the websites. Naturally curly hair can be beautiful! Hope this helps!

I have curly hair too. What i do is sometimes let it fall all down, fix some weird curles with a curlying iron, or take a cute clip and put half up and half down with some curls falling near the face.

You Could:
1. Get The Front Of your Hair Done In either Twists or cornrols..( that would look really cute) and you would have the back out and curly.
2. Or you can part your hair in the middle and Put the Top Half Of it up in a pony-tail and leave the bottom down.
3. You also can: Pull Out A peice of hair( like bang type) and straighten it.. Then put the rest of your hair( leave it curly) in a head band and have the straighten part comming out og the head-band on the side...
---- Hope I helped I have Very Curly Hair And these styles look cute :)

Just take care of it, keep it out of your face and not too far over coller length and the girls with straight hair will be wondering "perm or natural"?

Leaving it down with a headband or alone is very nice. One of my favorites is pulling everything back in a ponytail or french braid and leaving a lone curl dangling down the front.

mines that way.....here are some tips and some are to get more controlled curls and some are just regular tips:
buy those soft curlers and sleep in them. it is soooo easy and you save so much time in the morning. you just take them out and only brush the top of your hair otherwise you brush right through the curls. then use hairspray, not mousse. ive found that a great brand of hairspray is matrix hairspray. and for looser, messier curls, you separate each curl in two. it is a more casual, less shirley temple look.
then for waves, sleep in braids. (the number depending on how wavy you want your hair. i would probably recommend about eight or so) then you just take them out in the morning and just brush the top of your hair. you can use hairspray, but i usually dont need it, but then again, my hair holds waves really well......
and if you shower in the morning, scrunch your hair with mousse and it looks pretty good but might get a little frizzy.
and as for just regular hairstyles, i would try sidebangs or whispy bangs instead of thick ones......dont know about the cut i might have to see the shape of your face, sry....
you can also do buns, because they are pretty in, or low pigtails, but you might be a little old for them, but my sister in college looks cute in them so i dont know.....
as for hairbands, very cute and in!!! definitely!!!
u could wear your hair half-up, leaving your bangs down.....
hope i helped!!! good luck!!!
